Department of Civil Engineering


The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 1920.The Department of Civil Engineering is the first civil engineering department of a private university in Japan.

There are now 30,000 alumni. Many of them work as civil engineers and planners in major private companies and the governments. Alumni have a high employment success rate.

The campus for second year, third year, and fourth year students is in the center of Tokyo, which is the capital of Japan. The campus for the first year students is located in Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture, next to Tokyo.

The Department of Civil Engineering teaches technical knowledge and technology required for civil engineers and planners.
First and second year students study the basic education of civil engineering.
Third year students study practical education modeled after actual projects. There are three courses, such as Technical Design, Planning and Management, and Environmental Systems. Third year students may participate in internship programs during the summer vacation.
Fourth year students belong to one of the 20 or more laboratories and work on their graduation thesis based on research.
